100% Attendance

The children had a wonderful time at the balloon show.

 

 

Food Bank

On Wednesday 7th December the children had a special assembly with Sandra from the local food bank.  Sandra explained to the children all about the foodbank and the work that they do for the local community.  Sandra has asked for our support and we are therefore asking for donations of:

                       Tinned soup                                       Cereal

                       Sugar                                                  Tinned rice pudding

                       Tinned potatoes/Vegetables               Cleaning materials

                          Tinned custard                                    Toiletries

                                                  

Sandra from the food bank will be collecting any donations from school on Friday 16th December.

 

Nursery Big Breakfast/Afternoon Tea

On Thursday 10th November our morning nursery children and their parents were invited into school for a Big Breakfast and the afternoon nursery children and their parents came into school for Afternoon Tea.  Lots of fun was had by everyone.

Year 2 trip to The Yorkshire Sculpture Park

Our Year 2 children had a lovely time at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park.

    

Purlwell Festival

Well done to all the children and staff who took part in the Purlwell festival.  I'm sure you'll all agree it was a wonderful event.

Summer Fayre

The Summer Fayre was a great success with over £800 raised.  We would like to thank you all for your kind donations and support.

Summer Fayre

Don't forget our Summer Fayre takes place on Wednesday 13th July.  We still need any donations you may have for the tombolas such as teddy bears, boxes of chocolates etc. Any items would be gratefully received.  We would also love to receive any donations of sweet and savoury home made food for us to sell.  Please bring any food donations to the school office on Wednesday morning.

The Chicks are here!

The reception chicks are here. Fourteen eggs have hatched and the whole school have had the chance to look at the new chicks and even have a hold.

 

 

Great British breakfast

Our big breakfast was a great success with lots of children and parents enjoying the food on offer.  We would like to thank all of those who helped out and who supported the event by attending.

 

Chickens for our Reception classes!

Our reception classes each have an incubator with around 21 eggs in each.  The children will be able to observe the eggs hatch around the 11th May and will be able to discuss the life cycle of chickens.

Bouncy castle for our year 1 children

As part of their work this term the year 1 children got to bounce on a bouncy castle, they then had to speak clearly with clarity and expression to describe the experience.

    

Year 2 - SATs

Sports Relief

In aid of Sports Relief, which takes place on Friday 18th March, we are inviting all children to come to school wearing sports/PE clothes for a donation of £1.

We are also selling some Sports relief branded soft balls in the school office for £1.

All the children had a wonderful day at Yorkshire Wildlife Park.

 

 

 

Coffee morning

Please join us on Wednesday 9th March from 9am for our coffee morning which is in aid of Children's Liver disease.

Stay and Play - Reception classes

From week commencing 7th March our reception classes are having a “stay and play” session one morning a week where you can stay until 9.20am. During this time you can play with your children, look at their profiles, talk to us about anything you think would be of interest to us and share your expertise of your child.

We look forward to having a chance to speak to you in a more relaxed and less rushed atmosphere. You don’t need to commit to every week, but as little or often as you can manage.

The sessions will be as follows:

Conker Class “Stay and Play Morning” Tuesday 8.45am – 9.20am

Acorn Class “Stay and Play Morning “Wednesday 8.45am – 9.20am

Blossom Class “Stay and Play Morning” Thursday 8.45am – 9.20am

Book Fair

Don't forget it's our book fair this week. Monday to Thursday 8.40am to 9.05am and 3.15pm to 3.30pm.  There will be a good selection of books available starting at £2.99.

Pre-nursery trip to Krazy Kingdom

On Tuesday 12th January our pre-nursery children and their parents had a trip to Krazy Kingdom.  Lots of fun for everyone!

Parents Evening

Parents evening will take place on Wednesday 23rd March and Thursday 24th March.  Further details will be sent out closer to the time.

Safer Internet week

As part of the National Curriculum, children use computers in school to access the Internet.  Teaching children about safe use of these facilicties is vital.  During the week commencing 8th February we are focusing on keeping your children safe on the internet.

School Library

Our school library is now open 3 times per week for parents and their children.

The library will be open at the following times and will be accessible through the pre-nursery door:

            Mondays – 3.30pm to 4pm – Reception children and parents

            Tuesdays – 3.30pm to 4pm – Year 1 children and parents

            Wednesdays – 3.30pm to 4pm – Year 2 children and parents

Children in Need 2

The total collected on Friday 13th November from the sale of wrist band, non-uniform and the cake/bun sale was an absolutely fantastic £582.80.  This is absolutely amazing.  Thank you to everyone who helped support us.

Children in Need

The children and staff all had a wonderful day on Friday 13th November.  The children all dressed in their favourite fancy dress outfits and the staff were all dressed as 'Where's Wally'.  As soon as we know the final amount we will let you know how much was raised by the fancy dress and bun/cake sale.  Thank you for your support.

Coffee mornings

Would you like information, advice and support with:

Family issues, managing children's behaviour, accessing adult education, improving the lives of you and your family or imporoving your children's health?  If so please join the coffee morning at Hyrstmount Junior school on Wednesday 18th November at 9am to 10.30am.

The children had lots of fun last Friday at our Eid parties.

Congratulations Mrs Lorgat our catering supervisor who has won the Directors choice "Frontline Manager of the Year".  This is an absolutely fantastic achievement.
